Step-by-Step Guide to creating a MetaMask Wallet

Metamask is a free, secure, and easy-to-use crypto wallet that acts as a gateway to blockchain applications. It is available both as a web browser extension and mobile application.

In this guide, we’re going to demonstrate how anyone can create a metamask wallet on a web browser.

Step 1. Install MetaMask on your browser.

To create a new wallet using MetaMask, you must first install the extension. Metamask is available for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Opera browsers.

1. Open https://metamask.io/ or search for “Metamask extension” using your preferred search engine. In this guide, we will be using Google Chrome as an example. However, the procedure is the same across all browsers.

2. Click Add to Chrome. 3. Click Add Extension.

Voila! You have successfully installed the MetaMask extension!

Step 2. Create an account

The next step is to create an account on MetaMask:

1. When the MetaMask extension is installed, we’re directly land on MetaMask dApp or you can click on the MetaMask icon in the upper right corner to open the extension.

2. Click on Get Started.

3. Click on Create a Wallet. This will create a new wallet and Secret Recovery Phrase.

Click on Import Wallet, if you already have an existing wallet you just need to import it using Secret Recovery Phrase.

But in this guide, we are going to show how to create a new cryptocurrency wallet.

4. Click on I Agree.

5. Then create a strong password for your account and agree to the terms of use. Then click Create.

6. You will receive a short video to learn about your recovery phase and how to keep your wallet safe. Do check out to learn more about it. Then click Next to proceed.

7. Click Reveal secret words.

You will get 12-word seed phrases. Save these seed words as a file or copy and paste them to a safe and secure place and click Next. Remember don’t show these seed words to anyone.

Reveal secret words and copy your secret backup phrase to a safe and secure place.

Security Tip: Write this phrase on a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place. If you want to be extra safe, write it down on numerous pieces of paper and keep it in two three separate places. Memorize this phrase.

8. Then confirm your Secret Backup phrase by selecting each phrase in order to ensure it is correct.

After “solving this puzzle” click on Confirm.

Congratulations! Just like that, you have successfully created your new MetaMask account. A new Ethereum wallet address was automatically generated for you!
